BANGKOK, Thailand
(Reuters) Thai police have arrested a Bangkok garage
owner after rescuing twin brothers from his workshop, where they
had been chained up for a week, accused of stealing.
Police said they had to cut the 20-year-old twins out of heavy
irons chains, which had been welded to a pole at the back of the
vehicle workshop.
Chanchai Akarawaranond, 30, the owner of the garage in north
Bangkok, was charged with illegal detention on Thursday along
with two other men, police said.
Chanchai allegedly imprisoned Wattachara and Warrakorn Boonchaem
in a desperate attempt to stop thefts from his business, which
had lost many tools in recent weeks.
The charge carries a maximum jail term of five years.
